Slovenia's securities regulator, ATVP, adopted permanent national product-intervention measures for retail CFDs and binary options. Broker availability therefore does not mean every leveraged product is unrestricted.

What traders should know

Verify that the broker explicitly accepts Slovenian residents and identify the exact legal entity that will hold the account; an EEA licence by itself is not treated as proof of Slovenian onboarding.
ATVP's permanent national CFD measure is the same as ESMA's former EU-wide CFD measure: retail CFD leverage limits, a 50% margin close-out rule, negative-balance protection, standardised risk warnings and a prohibition on monetary and non-monetary trading incentives apply.
The standard retail CFD leverage limits are 30:1 for major FX pairs, 20:1 for non-major FX/gold/major indices, 10:1 for other commodities/non-major indices, 5:1 for individual equities/other reference values and 2:1 for crypto-assets.
ATVP's national measure permanently prohibits the marketing, distribution or sale of binary options to retail clients in or from Slovenia.
Direct stocks, ETFs, listed options and exchange-traded futures must be distinguished from CFDs or other OTC derivatives referencing those markets.
