What traders should know

The Bank of Thailand permits retail investors to invest directly abroad through authorised foreign service providers or brokers, subject to the applicable foreign-exchange process and an annual USD 5 million limit for the direct channel.
Retail investors using the direct foreign-broker channel must submit the BOT Acknowledgement Form of Intention to Invest in Foreign Securities and Derivatives before making investments and comply with required reporting.
The BOT identifies eligible asset types for the direct foreign-broker route as stocks, bonds, investment units, deposits, derivatives and investment-linked life insurance.
Thailand's SEC warns that legitimate securities and derivatives businesses carried on in Thailand require the relevant SEC licence or registration. A foreign broker's offshore licence is not Thai SEC authorisation.
Product form matters: direct shares or listed derivatives should not be confused with leveraged OTC forex/CFDs, share CFDs, ETF CFDs or crypto CFDs.
Foreign exchange transfers, repatriation and Thai tax treatment can create separate obligations even when a broker accepts the account.
