Overview and safety
What is ActivTrades?
ActivTrades is a multi-asset forex and CFD broker founded in Switzerland in 2001. It moved its headquarters to London in 2005, launched its proprietary platform in 2016 and subsequently added offices or regulated operations in the Bahamas, Brazil, Portugal and Mauritius. Current group entities include FCA-regulated ActivTrades Plc, CMVM-regulated ActivMarkets Empresa de Investimento, S.A., SCB-regulated ActivTrades Corp and ActivTrades Markets Ltd in Mauritius.
What are the Pros of ActivTrades?
ActivTrades combines a trading history dating to 2001 with FCA and CMVM regulated routes, its own ActivTrader platform, MT4, MT5 and TradingView connectivity. The current global site advertises more than 1,000 CFDs, forex spreads from 0.5 pips, 24/7 support in 14 languages and retail negative-balance protection, while the Portuguese entity adds Investor Compensation System participation for eligible clients.
What are the Cons of ActivTrades?
The principal drawback is that client protection and trading conditions change with the contracting entity. The former Luxembourg entity is no longer a current regulator route: CSSF says ActivTrades Europe S.A. ceased Luxembourg activity on 1 January 2024, transferred clients on 31 December 2023 and was removed from the CSSF authorised list on 18 October 2024. The same entity received a EUR 14,000 AML/CFT fine dated 24 December 2024.
What are the ActivTrades Current Promos?
ActivTrades currently publishes two value programmes rather than a generic deposit bonus: Refer a Friend can pay up to USD 500 per qualifying referral, while the Cashback Programme targets very high-volume clients above USD 50 million notional volume. Eligibility, reward currency and trading-volume conditions are entity-specific, so neither programme should be treated as a universal reduction in the quoted spread.
What are the ActivTrades Highlights?
Current broker-specific highlights include forex spreads advertised from 0.5 pips, more than 1,000 CFDs across multiple asset classes, ActivTrader plus MT4/MT5 and TradingView connectivity, Professional leverage up to 1:400, no broker minimum deposit for most global/UK/EU accounts, and 24/7 multilingual support.
What is the ActivTrades Origin Story?
ActivTrades says it was founded in Switzerland in 2001 and moved its headquarters to London in 2005. Its timeline records MT4 adoption in 2007, expansion into index, stock and commodity CFDs in 2008, launch of its proprietary platform in 2016, a Nassau office in 2018, Brazil in 2022, Portugal in 2023 and a Mauritius FSC jurisdiction in 2024.
Is ActivTrades Legit and Trustworthy?
ActivTrades has independently verifiable regulated entities, including ActivTrades Plc under FCA FRN 434413, ActivMarkets Empresa de Investimento, S.A. under Portuguese CMVM number 433 and ActivTrades Corp on the Securities Commission of The Bahamas registrant list. Trust assessment also has to include two historical regulatory actions: the FSA fined ActivTrades Plc GBP 85,750 in 2011 for client-money/control failures, and CSSF fined the now-former Luxembourg entity EUR 14,000 in 2024 for AML/CFT failures.
Is ActivTrades Regulated and who are the Regulators?
Yes. ActivTrades is a multi-entity regulated group and the exact legal entity matters. The complete current and historical regulator relationships retained in the Broker Fit record are:
• ActivTrades Plc — Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), FRN 434413, United Kingdom. This is the current UK investment firm. Eligible covered claims can fall within FSCS rules; ActivTrades also states that client money is segregated and retail negative-balance protection applies. • ActivMarkets Empresa de Investimento, S.A. — Comissão do Mercado de Valores Mobiliários (CMVM), registration 433, Portugal/EEA. This is the current EU investment firm and counterparty for the reviewed EU derivative service. ActivTrades states that it participates in the Portuguese Investor Compensation System as participant 164, with eligible claims up to EUR 25,000, and provides segregated funds and retail negative-balance protection. • ActivTrades Corp. — Securities Commission of The Bahamas (SCB). It is a current Securities Industry Act registrant for relevant dealing/arranging activities including CFDs. The Bahamas company number 199667 B is a company registration and is not presented as an SCB licence number. • ActivTrades Markets Ltd — Financial Services Commission Mauritius, licence GB24203277 according to current ActivTrades disclosures. The regulator's public register is retained as the official verification route; the underlying audit did not independently retrieve a broker-specific result from that register. • ActivTrades Corretora de Câmbio, Títulos e Valores Mobiliários Ltda. — Banco Central do Brasil (BCB), current prudentially supervised institution. • The same Brazilian legal entity — Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM), current broker/dealer registry entry, CNPJ 43.050.917/0001-03. BCB prudential supervision and CVM securities-market supervision are separate regulatory relationships for the same Brazilian company. • ActivTrades Europe S.A. — former Luxembourg CSSF relationship. CSSF records show the entity ceased Luxembourg activity on 1 January 2024 and was removed from the authorised list on 18 October 2024. It is retained for regulatory history and must not be presented as a current licence.
Belgium is a separate product-fit decision. ActivTrades EU explicitly states that its derivative-product marketing is not intended for residents of Belgium, and Belgium's FSMA prohibits distribution to consumers via electronic platforms of leveraged OTC CFDs and rolling-spot forex. A CMVM authorisation or another group licence therefore does not establish Belgian retail CFD/forex availability, and no Belgian Open Account CTA should be shown.

Did ActivTrades win any Awards?
ActivTrades has a long award history, but this re-audit does not manufacture a 2026 award from undated badges. The existing review retains issuer-verifiable 2023 ADVFN awards for Best Online Trading Services and Best Customer Service; newer badges should only be added when award name, issuer and year are all independently readable.
What type of Forex Broker is ActivTrades?
ActivTrades provides OTC forex and CFD execution rather than exchange ownership of the underlying assets for the reviewed leveraged products. The Portuguese entity explicitly states that ActivMarkets Empresa de Investimento, S.A. is the sole counterparty to clients derivative trades, while the Bahamas SCB register permits ActivTrades Corp to deal as agent or principal and arrange CFD trades. It should therefore not be described universally as ECN or STP.
How do I get in Contact with ActivTrades?
ActivTrades publishes 24/7 contact through live chat, WhatsApp, callback and online messaging. The Bahamas office lists +1 242 603 5200 and 209/210 Church Street, Sandyport, Nassau. The FCA-authenticated UK firm is at The Loom, Office 2.6, 14 Gowers Walk, London E1 8PY and uses +44 20 7650 0500.
Where are the Headquarters from ActivTrades based?
ActivTrades was founded in Switzerland in 2001 and says it moved its headquarters to London in 2005. The current FCA-recorded UK address is The Loom, Office 2.6, 14 Gowers Walk, London E1 8PY. It also operates regulated entities/offices in Portugal, The Bahamas and Mauritius.
What kind of Customer Support is offered by ActivTrades?
ActivTrades publishes customer support 24 hours a day, seven days a week in 14 languages, with live chat, telephone, email, WhatsApp, callback and web-form channels. The contact page provides separate regional office details, including Nassau and UK contact information, so users can contact the legal/regional route relevant to their account.
Which Educational and Learning Materials are offered by ActivTrades?
ActivTrades maintains broker education through webinars, platform guidance and market-learning material. The useful distinction for visitors is that educational content is not a substitute for product appropriateness: CFDs remain leveraged OTC products even when the broker provides extensive learning material.
Does ActivTrades hedge Positions?
ActivTrades should not be labelled universally ECN/STP. The Portuguese entity says it is the sole counterparty to clients derivative trades, while the Bahamas registration permits ActivTrades Corp to deal as agent or principal and arrange securities/CFD transactions. Execution and hedging therefore depend on the serving entity and product.
Accounts and eligibility
Can anyone join ActivTrades?
Belgian residents should not be shown an ActivTrades Open Account CTA for the reviewed EU derivative service: the current ActivTrades EU site explicitly says its derivative-product marketing is not intended for residents of Belgium. This is stronger evidence than merely assuming EU passporting from the Portuguese licence.
Who should sign up with ActivTrades?
ActivTrades is best suited to active forex and CFD traders who want a long-established broker with ActivTrader, MetaTrader and TradingView choices, low published entry spreads, Expert Advisor support and a regulated FCA or CMVM route where their residence permits it.
Who should NOT sign up with ActivTrades?
ActivTrades is a weaker fit for Belgian residents seeking an EU CFD account because the current ActivTrades EU site explicitly says its derivative-product marketing is not intended for residents of Belgium. It is also a weaker fit for investors who want identical leverage, compensation coverage or product access in every jurisdiction.
Does ActivTrades offer Discounts, Coupons, or Promo Codes?
The current Cashback Programme is the main volume discount. ActivTrades publishes examples such as USD 1 cashback per EUR/USD lot, USD 1.60 per GBP/USD lot and USD 7 per gold lot and describes the programme as roughly a 20% reduction on eligible spreads/swaps plus 20% of stock-trading commissions. It is aimed at clients exceeding USD 50 million notional volume.
Which Account Types are offered by ActivTrades?
ActivTrades supports Individual, approved Islamic/swap-free, joint and qualifying Professional accounts, and clients can use ActivTrader, MT4 or MT5. Most current UK/global/EU account materials do not impose a broker minimum deposit, although a USD 250 minimum applies in some jurisdictions.
How to Open a ActivTrades LIVE Account?
To open a live ActivTrades account, applicants register with personal and financial information, choose a platform and account currency, then complete verification. The Help Center requires proof of identity and proof of address before live trading is enabled and notes that ActivTrades can request further information or documents about financial background, source of funds or investment experience.
How to Open a ActivTrades DEMO account?
ActivTrades offers free demo trading on ActivTrader, MT4 and MT5. The EU site currently advertises EUR 10,000 of virtual funds. ActivTrades states that demo execution simulates market conditions but does not reproduce live-market liquidity; MT4 demo access is narrower for stock derivatives, while MT5 and ActivTrader cover a broader instrument set.
If I violate the Trading Objectives of ActivTrades do I get a second chance?
ActivTrades is a conventional forex/CFD broker rather than a proprietary-trading challenge firm. Its live accounts therefore do not impose a funded-account profit target or paid evaluation reset; trading limits instead come from margin requirements, account classification, instrument limits and the legal entity client agreement.
How Are You Protected as a Client at ActivTrades?
Client protection varies by entity. ActivTrades says retail accounts receive negative-balance protection and client funds are segregated. For the Portuguese/EU entity, ActivMarkets is participant 164 in the Portuguese Investor Compensation System, which covers eligible claims up to EUR 25,000, and it publishes additional client-fund insurance up to EUR 1,000,000 subject to policy terms. Those Portuguese compensation terms should not be assumed for Bahamas or Mauritius accounts.
What are ActivTrades AML ID requirements?
ActivTrades KYC requires identity and residential-address evidence before live trading is enabled, and the broker can request additional financial or source-of-funds information. The importance of current AML controls is reinforced by the CSSF record: the former Luxembourg entity was fined EUR 14,000 in December 2024 after findings involving source-of-funds evidence, high-risk customer reviews, screening, governance and AML training.
Deposits, withdrawals and fees
Which Deposit and Withdrawal options are available at ActivTrades?
Deposits and withdrawals are handled through verified client payment methods. ActivTrades says cards/e-wallet deposits are usually credited in about 30 minutes, bank transfers can take 3–5 business days, and withdrawal requests are normally processed within one business day. Deposits are generally free; payment-provider/bank costs and a 0.5% funding-currency conversion fee can apply.
Which Funding methods or Deposit Options are available at ActivTrades?
Current deposit methods include bank transfer, Visa/Mastercard, Neteller, Skrill and PayPal; ActivTrades also states that cryptocurrency deposits are free at broker level where that funding rail is available. Payment-provider charges can still apply. Deposits in a currency different from the account currency are accepted only in specified currencies and can incur a 0.5% conversion fee.
What is the Minimum Deposit Amount at ActivTrades?
ActivTrades currently states that there is no minimum deposit required to activate global (.com), UK (.co.uk) or European (.eu) accounts. It identifies an exception for clients in certain jurisdictions where a USD 250 minimum applies, so the applicable onboarding route can change the practical minimum.
Which Withdrawal methods are available at ActivTrades?
Withdrawal methods follow the original funding route up to the deposited amount for cards and third-party payment providers; profits above the original deposit are withdrawn by bank transfer. ActivTrades says withdrawals are generally free, although some bank transfers can carry a GBP 9 or equivalent broker fee.
How can I Withdraw Money from ActivTrades Step by Step?
A client submits a withdrawal from the Personal Area under account transactions. ActivTrades returns funds to the original card or third-party funding method up to the deposit amount and routes excess profit by bank transfer. The broker says it processes requests within one business day; bank receipt can then take three to five business days.
Does ActivTrades Payout?
ActivTrades does not offer a fixed investment payout schedule; clients withdraw available account funds. Its Help Center says withdrawal requests are processed within one business day, while bank transfers can take another three to five business days to reach the receiving bank after processing.
Which Fees are charged by ActivTrades?
ActivTrades says most forex, index, commodity, bond, crypto-CFD, share and ETF trading is commission-free at broker level, with the cost primarily embedded in the spread plus overnight financing where applicable. Current forex marketing starts around 0.5 pips, while high-volume Cashback can reduce effective spread/swap cost for eligible clients.
Trading conditions and platforms
What can I trade with ActivTrades?
ActivTrades currently offers leveraged trading across forex, indices, commodities, shares, cryptocurrencies, ETFs and bonds, with the global site advertising more than 1,000 CFDs and the EU leverage table listing more than 1,500 symbols. Product availability differs by platform and legal entity; for example, MT4 has narrower stock access than MT5 or ActivTrader.
Which Trading Platforms are offered by ActivTrades?
Current platform choice is unusually broad: ActivTrader, MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 and TradingView connectivity. MT4/MT5 support Expert Advisors; MT5 can support different position-accounting modes and users should confirm whether their live account is netting or hedging before deploying automated strategies.
Which Trading Instruments are offered by ActivTrades?
The current product set includes forex pairs, cash and futures-based index CFDs, commodities, stock CFDs, cryptocurrency CFDs, ETFs and bonds. The global site markets more than 1,000 CFDs, while the current EU leverage table exposes more than 1,500 symbols; the exact instrument list depends on entity and platform.
Which Trading Servers are offered by ActivTrades?
ActivTrades provides MT4, MT5 and ActivTrader connections, but the current public platform and Help Center pages checked on 1 September 2026 do not publish a stable list of client-facing MT4/MT5 live server names. Exact server selection therefore could not be verified from an authoritative public source; account credentials and the Personal Area provide the assigned connection details.
Which are the Base Currencies supported by ActivTrades?
The current Individual account page lists EUR, USD, GBP, SEK and CHF as account currencies and notes that CHF is available only to ActivTrades Corp clients. The Help Center describes EUR, GBP, USD and CHF as the main base currencies and says additional currencies such as AED and SEK can depend on residence and jurisdiction.
Can I trade Crypto with ActivTrades? Which crypto currencies are supported by ActivTrades?
ActivTrades offers cryptocurrency CFDs rather than spot custody/ownership in the reviewed leveraged trading account. The EU leverage schedule currently includes BTCUSD, ETHUSD, LTCUSD, SOLUSD, ADAUSD and other crypto CFDs with instrument-specific exposure limits. Cryptocurrency can also be an available deposit rail in some ActivTrades funding contexts, which is separate from trading crypto CFDs.
What is the Leverage on my ActivTrades Trading Account?
Retail leverage under the Portuguese/EU route follows EU product-intervention limits, including up to 1:30 on major forex pairs. ActivTrades separately advertises Professional leverage up to 1:400 for qualifying clients. A professional/offshore maximum must never be displayed as a Belgian or ordinary EU retail entitlement.
How can I change the Leverage on my ActivTrades Trading Account?
Leverage cannot be treated as one account-wide number. ActivTrades publishes instrument and exposure-based margin schedules, and Professional classification can raise eligible leverage up to 1:400. Retail clients seeking a different leverage level must remain within the legal-entity, instrument and classification limits; the EU schedule also states that ActivTrades can change margins with market conditions.
What kind of Spreads are offered by ActivTrades?
ActivTrades currently advertises forex spreads from 0.5 pips. Spreads are variable and product-specific rather than a universal fixed rate; the cashback page, for example, shows target spreads of 0.5 on EUR/USD and 0.8 on GBP/USD for its high-volume reward examples.
Does ActivTrades offer MAM Accounts or PAMM Accounts?
No current ActivTrades MAM or PAMM product was verified from the broker current account, platform, Help Center, EU and global product pages checked on 1 September 2026. ActivTrades does offer Professional account services and a separate copy-trading app, but those are not evidence of a MAM/PAMM managed-account allocation service, so no MAM/PAMM availability is claimed here.
Does ActivTrades allow Expert Advisors?
Expert Advisors are supported on MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5. ActivTrades EU explicitly markets MT4 with MQL4 Expert Advisors and MT5 with MQL5 Expert Advisors, while the Help Center provides platform downloads and support for EAs and indicators. Automated strategy use remains subject to margin, instrument and account rules.
Does ActivTrades offer Copytrading?
ActivTrades has an ActivTrades Copy Trading app supplied by ActivTrades PLC and powered by Pelican; the App Store listing says clients can review signal-provider history, choose traders, set allocations and copy trades into an ActivTrades account. The current ActivTrades public product/legal pages checked on 1 September 2026 did not expose a definitive entity-by-entity availability table for this service, so this review does not assume that copy trading is available in every country or legal entity.
